DivaCon is a brand name product that is often confused with the more popular female contraceptive pill, "the pill". While the DivaCon pills do contain natural estrogen like components, they are different and not as well known as the pill. The brand name itself is derived from a famous French pop star that has sold millions of records, Avril Lavigne. DivaCon is actually a new line of birth control pills and it was first developed for women over 40 years old. It's one of only two naturally occurring estrogens used in most birth control pills.
The other ingredient, Mestranol is converted into Ethinyl Estradiol before it becomes biologically active. This means that while the DivaCon pill contains no estrogen, it does contain Mestranol which can be absorbed by the body and cause a positive reaction with a woman's body. Some research has also indicated that a small percentage of women experience a negative reaction to Mestranol which includes nausea, dizziness and vomiting. This effect may not be permanent, however and is only temporary. It's important to note that this is a rare side effect and is usually resolved by discontinuing the product and drinking plenty of water. Most women have found that they experience minimal side effects without any difficulty.
As stated previously, it's important to note that there are no known long term side effects to using DivaCon. But because the pills contain a higher dosage of Ethinyl Estradiol and a smaller dosage of Mestranol, there will be some women who experience a slightly slower progress with their contraceptive cycle than they would have if they used a traditional pill. But when taking the pills it should be noted that they will not help you get pregnant and they can increase your risk of contracting certain sexually transmitted diseases like HIV. However, these risks are very minimal compared to using condoms. DivaCon should only be taken for the purpose of regulating menstrual flow and not for any other reasons.
